The idea for Pencil Poker came from a group of friends hanging out on a Sunday afternoon enjoying some home grown herb. A question arose as to what each of these friends used to clean their glass paraphernalia. One mentioned using toothpicks, but said they would usually break with any sticky resin. Another stated he used paper clips, but they would always bend and resin would get on his hands. The last noted trying a tent stake, but it shattered one of his pieces. They came to the conclusion that nothing available was worthwhile.
A couple of puffs later and the ideas were flowing. They spun into questions of "how do we get rid of the resin?" and "what can fit inside a deep bowl?" The answer just seemed to click when the idea of using a mechanical pencil was shared. This was a device that, if modified, could easily dispose of and replaced used rods.
Like many startups, it began with passing out prototypes to friends and family. When reviewed, the Pencil Poker was revered as a bowl cleaner unlike any they had used before. It offered an all-in-one solution that did the job with ease. From there, the friends formed the company DMA Solutions so they could share the Pencil Poker with the rest of their herb smoking brothers and sisters of the world.
